Our first app was nominated for an award from the World Technology Network!
The awards, given to the “most innovative work of the greatest likely long term significance” are sponsored by Time Magazine, CNN, Fortune Magazine, and Science Magazine. The inventor of Spotify won in a previous year and Elon Musk of Tesla was among the many well-known nominees this year.
"This event is the ultimate global platform to honor visionary contributions in the science and technology arenas. The World Technology Awards program is not only a very inspiring way to identify and honor the most innovative people and organizations in the technology world, but it also is a truly disciplined way for the WTN membership to identify those who will formally join them as part of our global community. By working to make useful connections among our members, we look forward to assisting Gregor Hanuschak in continuing to help create our collective future and change our world." said James P. Clark, Founder and Chairman of the World Technology Network.
Below are a couple pictures from the event. Gregor represented the company and randomly sat at a table near a Nobel Laureate (Alan J. Heeger) and at Gregor's table was Dennis Hwang, the original artist for the doodles on the Google home page (picture of Gregor and Dennis on right).
Although we did not win an award, it really was great to be nominated. Tesla was indeed a winner this year, as was Mark J. Post, famous for developing the first lab-grown beef patty, and Gustavo Stolovitzky, currently making great strides in DNA sequencing, and previously famous for inventing WATSON, the computer that played Jeopardy against human competitors and won.
Other award nominee non-winners included Mark Zuckerberg, Eric Anderson (who started the asteroid mining company “Planetary Resources”), and Bill & Melinda Gates (no joke). Yeah, we were definitely in good company. As awesome as our product is, it would be hard to say that “we were robbed” :-)
